A catchlight is simply the reflection of a light source in a subject’s eyes. Without it, eyes can look dull or "flat."

How to do it:

When photographing a loved one (even with your phone!), have them turn their face slightly toward a window or the sun. You’ll see a tiny spark of light appear in their pupils. That little sparkle adds depth, emotion, and life to the photo!
